The next bid should be released during the first part of January. The latest information from Crew Planning indicates that the DC9 will be removed from the DCA domicile by April or May of 2001. All remaining DC9 flying will be staffed in PIT.
Rumors have been circulating regarding a January new hire pilot class. Captain Jack Stephan - BWI Council Chairman and Chairman of the Flight Operations Task Force reports that representatives of Human Resources Department have recently stated that there are no new hire pilot classes planned for January.
Last week's MEC meeting came to an abrupt end when the roll call vote was used to restaff the Negotiating Committee. Apparently, the MEC representatives spent several days discussing the candidates, while trying to make sure that all concerns were addressed. When it came time to vote whatever consensus may have been hoped for disintegrated when the roll call was used to remove experienced members from the Negotiating Committee. ALPA will soon be collecting information related to shortages in pilot staffing. An input form will be available in the Member's Only section of the ALPA web site. This form can be used by pilots to provide data, which will help ALPA highlight under-staffing issues.
Lineholders who adjust their lines for over-projection are reminded that the negative bank is not considered when determining if you are over-projected.
Representatives working for ALPA have discovered some rather large misallocation related to the stock option plan. At least several hundred pilots have been effected to date. ALPA is working to correct the problem.
