Bid 01-01 Timeline

The latest information from Bid Closing Committee Chairman Bruce Beighlie indicates that the next permanent bid will be released on Friday, September 22. The highlights of the bid are as follows:

The bid period will be three months in duration - January, February and March. Pilot staffing for A330 numbers 8 and 9 will be reflected in this bid. There is an increase of 8 Airbus 321's and a decrease of 11 DC-9's. Captain Beighlie reports that Management had indicated that there would be a reduction of 12 Captain positions (from 2685 to 2673), but this issue is currently under discussion between ALPA and Management. Captain Beebe is attempting to have Management re-evaluate the reduction in Captains.

BOS, DCA and LGA A-319 Lines of Flying

The Line Construction Committee has been receiving many complaints regarding the Airbus lines of flying for October and November. Most complaints focus on the lack of similar trips on similar days as well as the R to S reserve ratio. This issue is being addressed between Management and ALPA. Comments should be directed to MEC Central Scheduling Chairman Jeff Edwards.
