Here is how to read the table:
Look at Jan-69 below (marked in red). Each pilot hired during 1968 is in this group. If you are a USAirways pilot, about 2.06% of the pilots (year end 1999) would be senior to you. If you are a United pilot, 7.49% of the pilots would be senior to you.
Ok, lets do another.
Look at Jan-83 below (marked in blue). Each pilot hired during 1982 is in this group. If you are a USAirways pilot, about 22.31% of the pilots (year end 1999) would be senior to you. If you are a United pilot, 18.69% of the pilots would be senior to you.
You will see years where the percentage for both pilot groups does not change. This occurs during years when no pilots were hired.
