This week's hearings regarding the United/USAirways merger have concluded. Today, representatives from Jet Blue and Sun Country were among those who testified before the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure. Rather than attempting to spoil the UAL/USA deal, it seems that these smaller carriers are more interested in seeing a Justice Department "yard sale" of attractive assets such as landing slots or ticket counter space.

On Monday, United MEC Chairman Rick Dubinsky addressed the USAirways MEC. His remarks were brief. Captain Dubinsky mentioned a "prenuptial" agreement which had been quietly drafted by the United Negotiating Committee. At some point during the buy-out negotiations, this agreement was presented to Mr. Wolf (who would not agree to its terms). Although no specifics of the "prenuptial" agreement were discussed on Monday, the agreement addressed terms for pilot integration. Details of this agreement should be available at a later date.
