Rumor Control Update

March 12, 2000

--------------------

Bonus Check

As negotiated in the current pilot Contract, a bonus check equal to 1% of 1999 W-2 earnings will be mailed or direct deposited by March 15.

Wolf Meeting

Chairman Chris Beebe was contacted last week by Mr. Wolf who has requested to meet with all labor leaders (to include all MEC members) on Tuesday, March 14. Meetings such as this have rarely been requested by Management. Among other topics, the agenda is to include a discussion about the state of the AFA contract, the state of the Company and contingencies in the event of a shutdown. Because Chairman Beebe felt that is was not appropriate for the entire MEC to be engaged in a (possible gang up) meeting with Management regarding the AFA negotiations, Chairman Beebe declined the invitation on behalf of the MEC members. As of this writing, it appears now that only the officers of the IAM, TWU, ALPA and maybe AFA will attend. These plans may change as the leaders of the various labor groups discuss the issue internally. Check this site after Tuesday for what Mr. Wolf has to say [in the event that someone is there to listen].

CLT Council Elections

The ALPA Election and Ballot Certification Board (EBCB) has determined that the recent election in CLT must be redone. Apparently, the Company did not provide ALPA with the correct pilot roster for the recent election. In a document dated March 3, The EBCB states that:

"The Board concludes that a substantial number of members of Council 90 who were eligible to vote were denied the opportunity to vote. This action could have and an influence on the outcome of the election and the Board concludes that reballoting is in order."

Another Special MEC Meeting

PIT and BOS have called another special MEC meeting for Monday, March 13. Four of the five agenda items address issues relating to the Negotiating Committee. One agenda item addresses "staffing" of the Negotiating Committee. It appears that PIT and BOS feel that they now have support to make some personnel changes on this committee. Once again, the four new MEC officers will play a role in either advancing or not advancing the PIT / BOS agenda:

The timing of this meeting is curious..... The Negotiating Committee is scheduled to begin the Small Jet domicile meetings the following day. Also, in only 11 days, three new members from the new LGA domicile will join the MEC, yet it appears that they will not be given a chance to weigh-in on this important issue for the pilots whom they represent.

AFA Negotiations

The AFA will begin super mediation on March 17 under the supervision of the National Mediation Board.
