DCA will hold a local council meeting on Monday, February 28 at 1300 at the Days Inn Crystal City. Members of the Negotiating Committee will be present to discuss the Shuttle Amalgamation Agreement and how it will coexist with arbitrator Nicolau's seniority integration award. These are complicated subjects and this meeting will provide an opportunity for you to get valuable information on how bidding will be effected by the Nicolau Award and the Shuttle Amalgamation Agreements. Your pay can be effected by when and how you bid. Attendance is highly recommended.
All Shuttle pilots are invited to attend. The Shuttle and US Airways pilot groups will be formally integrated on the day following this council meeting. Also, the local council will vote in a long list of newly hired pilots who have completed one year of service. This is an excellent opportunity to attend and welcome all of our new council members.
MetroJet flights from BOS to MDW will be suspended on March 5. ALPA is in discussion with Management regarding how pilots will be paid for BOS-MDW flying (these flights are published in the March trip pairings). Schedule adjustments such as this are rarely made after the publication of trip pairings. The most recent example were the pre-cancellations due to aircraft maintenance last summer.
A tentative agreement has been reached on a regional jet "mini-deal". The tentative agreement will be discussed this week by the MEC in CLT at the regular first quarter MEC meeting. The MEC will be meeting at the Marriott Executive Park Hotel, beginning on February 21 at 1000. At this weeks meeting, the MEC may elect to send the tentative agreement to the pilots for membership ratification.
Here are some highlights of the T/A:
The National Mediation Board has proffered arbitration. Neither Management nor the AFA have announced a decision regarding the acceptance of binding arbitration. The AFA will meet on Monday to determine if they will accept binding arbitration. If the proffer of arbitration is rejected by either party, a 30 day cooling off period will begin. At the end of 30 days, the AFA will be free to strike.
The strike price for the third option grant is $25.17.
ALPA has received a letter from Management which states:
"The A321 were not ordered as replacements for the 757's, but were ordered to compliment the fleet. The Company has no plans to sell the 757's at this time."
